Laurence Andrew Cogle was a shipping clerk and Lerwick Town Councillor between 1925 and 1936.

Biography

For most of his life, he worked for the North of Scotland Shipping Company, having served the business for 51 years when he retired in 1953. He was actively involved with the church and taught Sunday School in St Columba's Church for more than 50 years. He was also the Honorary Treasurer of the Sunday School for 44 years, and a church elder for 37. For a number of years, his tall, outstanding figure had been part and parcel of the business life of Lerwick, centered around Victoria Pier.
