Captain Robert Henderson Ramsay was a photographer and Lerwick Town Councillor between 1912 and 1921.
Biography
Robert took up photography at an early age, and worked with Valetine & Sons, Dundee, to capture landscapes in Orkney and Shetland to be used as postcards. He enlisted in the 7th Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders in 1902. Mobilised in 1914, he served in his Regiment as Adjutant until 1916 when he returned to civilian life. The Shetland Museum's online photo archive has 833 photos which list him as the photographer, and these can be viewed here.
