Charles Duncan Laurenson was a bank manager and a Lerwick Town Councillor.

Biography

Charles joined the Commercial Bank in 1867, between the completion of his apprenticeship and his return to Lerwick as Agent for the bank, Charles served in various branches south. His appointment as Agent came in 1884 after the death of Charles Gilbert Duncan, who had been the first man to hold that title in the bank and whom had trained Charles when he was a young man. His rise to Agent was considered fast, coming only 17 years after he first started with the Commercial Bank.

In 1907 he was appointed Agent at the Chief Office in Greenock and held that post until 1919. His vacancy was filled by William MacDougall.
