Robert Bruce Hunter was a bank agent at the Union Bank and a Lerwick Town Councillor. He died in his office, aged 67. His father, Samuel and his brother James were both councillors in Lerwick.

Biography

Robert was educated at the Anderson Institute under Principal Nathaniel Leask. After school, he joined the Union Bank of Scotland in Lerwick and remained there for some years. A promotion saw him take on the accountancy of the Haymarket branch of the same bank in Edinburgh. After a few years moved back to Lerwick and took on the same role back in the Lerwick branch. When Alexander Mitchell retired from his job as Agent of the bank, Robert was promoted into that role.

He was interested in boating and swimming, being involved in the Swimming Club and the relaunch of the Lerwick Boating Club.
