Laurence Sandison was a butcher assistant and a Lerwick Town Councillor. He was also the Lerwick Up Helly Aa Guizer Jarl in 1914 a member of the Social Democratic Federation, like several pre-war jarls. He died in a motor accident. He unsuccessfully contested the 1913 and the 1925 Lerwick Town Council election.

Biography

After leaving school, Laurence worked with John G. Irvine in his flesher business, and continued working there until John and his family moved to New Zealand. Until the breakout of WWI, Laurence had a fleshing business.

During the war, he server in the anti-aircraft section of the Royal Garrison Artillery. After serving in WWI, Laurence worked with James Smith up until the time of his death.

At his time of death, Laurence lived with Robert Blance, who was married to his sister, Jean.
