Andrew Baillie Garriock was a County Councillor for Northmavine North between 1919 and 1925. His father, Peter, was a Lerwick Town Councillor.
Biography
After completing his education in Shetland, Andrew went out to China under the employment of Butterfield & Squires, an importer firm. After serving them for some years, he became a partner in Garriock & Pearce importers in Hankou (now part of Wuhan). The business was successful and Andrew was able to retire in 1914. He returned to Shetland afterwards. Upon his return, he acquired the Lochend estate
While in China, Andrew participated in pony racing, and won many cups.
