John Jamieson was a headteacher, agricultural adviser for Shetland, County Councillor and Shetland Islands Councillor, first for Whalsay And Skerries between 1945 and 1947, then Northmavine South between 1972 and 1975, then Northmavine from 1974 to 1978. He unsuccessfully contested the Northmavine seat at the 1978 Shetland Islands Council election.

Biography

He was also Vice-Chairman for Hjaltland Housing Association Ltd. from 1975 until his death in 1982 and Hjaltland-owned John Jamieson Closs in Lerwick is named after him.
