Anthony 'Tony' Anderson was a farmer and County Councillor between 1945 and 1970.

Biography

Tony was the son of shepherd in Gremista and first learned his trade on the family farm. His first job elsewhere was as a butcher, and he eventually combined farming and butchery to great success. When still a young man, he took over the farm at Stenswell, Weisdale and later expanded his interests into Orkney, as well as other parts of Shetland.

There was not much of the Shetland agricultural industry in which Tony was not involved. He was associated with the Shetland Marts at its founding, was previously the branch-president of the Shetland National Farmers Union, was a stock dealer and a supporter of the local wool trade.
