George Ross was a County Councillor for Tingwall between 1945 and 1950.
Biography
George was the owner of confectioners in Scalloway, beginning trade in the early 1920s. In 1937, he and his wife acquired the Shetland Knitwear Company and in 1943 they bought Nicolson & Co. The family left Shetland in 1950 to take over the Stonefield Castle Hotel near Tarbert. He died in Shetland while on visiting on holiday.
He lived in Thule Cottage in Scalloway, his parents property which they both passed away in between 1948 and 1950.
