Lewis James Garriock was a County Councillor for Tingwall between 1909 and 1913. In 1935, his wife, Selina, became the first ever female County Councillor elected in Shetland. He was a distance relative of Sandsting County Councillor Simon Garriock (4th cousin twice removed) and his great uncle, James Greig, was a Lerwick Town Councillor. He unsuccessfully contested the 1930 Sandsting County Council by-election.

Biography

He studied at the University of St. Andrews, where he was an accomplished all-round athlete. After serving the County Council, he was an active participant in a large number of committees and a member of various bodies, as well as a very active participant of the church in Scalloway.
